As far as I know, JB, you're the only one that draws the "elbow plates" as imperfect discs. They always seem to be curved or dented. I know it's an odd thing to notice, but I've seen you do this for a long time, now. And as mentioned upthread, no one draws the character like you.

I have to agree with everybody else. Nobody draws Dr. Doom better. Great pose, great drawing. Congrats Paul.

My inclination would be to stop when Ditko stops, just as, with the FF poster I did all those years ago, I stopped when Kirby stopped. No disrespect to Romita, who everyone here should know by now I admire greatly, but the villains he and Stan came up with were not nearly as quirky as the ones Ditko gave us.
****
There's nobody like Ditko, that's for sure, buy my favorite run on Spider-Man will always be the first dozen-or-so issues that Romita did -- up to and including that famous "Spider-Man No More" 50th issue.  So I have a soft spot in my heart for guys like the Rhino, the Shocker, and the second Vulture.  In fact, in the extraordinarily unlikely event that I ever became the Spider-Man writer, my first story would be "What Ever Happened to Blackie Drago?"

Oops! Missed this one.  Love it.  My favorite part is the end of the barrel of the gun.  Great job, JB and congrats Paul.

Paul, this is a nice piece.  Where are you going to hang your artwork?

Sam, this series is staying in a portfolio. I have too much art to hang all of my pieces. I already have 20 pieces framed and that has filled my computer room. I may be able to spread into the spare bedroom, but the wife won't allow me into the rest of the house. With all of my portfolio's I keep them out so they are easy to flip through any time I feel the need to look at art. Which is quite often.

If you need some space for those portfolios, I'll be more than happy to find a place for them, Paul!

My latest commission arrived today and seeing it in person is wonderful, now I just have to bring it to the framers when I get paid again. Though my wall has another empty space for another piece, yikes!

Tension, hate, desperation, spiritual agony... transmited by just an armor. That's really corporal language. One of the best Dr Dooms I've ever seen. Congratulations to the owner and to Mr. Byrne, of course.

One Q for Mr Byrne: After many years drawing the character, does it come out that way naturally or have you planned what you want to transmit before starting the drawing?

*Sorry for my english

••

And sorry for missing this question!

A lot of drawing Doom is second nature to me now, but I still have to think about it when deciding what emotions I want to come thru the mask.

This piece is safely in my chubby fingers. While the scan looks great, it looks 10 times better in person. Thanks again for such a great series of commissions, JB!
