I cracked it open. Took a look and paid a service to have Stan sign it and reseal it.

Back 1998 I attended a con in Chicago and as I passed by a large line-up crowd I wondered who was signing. I'm tall so I poked my head over the crowd and it was The Man, and he happened to be signing...a copy of AF !!! So I hollered out "Stan! Please hold it up !" and I snapped this shot...

I lost track of this thread for a few months.

I ended up getting my copy of AF15 signed by Stan at FanExpo in Toronto on Aug 28th (also my birthday -- and Jack Kirby's, incidentally).

Not trying to steal any of Fred's thunder, just thought it was weirdly coincidental that we both ended up getting Stan to sign such a book.  FWIW, I had Stan sign the splash page rather than the cover, a last minute decision that I don't regret.

Rob?  Not a slight on Fred at ALL.   Hell, the reason ANY of us are here, on this board....... is because we love comic books.  Most of us, if not all, were/are collectors.

Envy is a word I use to descibe the feeling, of getting your favorite books signed by your favorite creators.  Be it Lee, Byrne, whoever.

Congrats, Rob.   Big time hell yes.

No thunder to steal. I never thought about the threads here as involving ego or self-promotion. Congrats Rob!
