Hi all, I've been looking at finally picking up a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 and found a copy that looks promising. Due to the cost of the book, I wanted to verify the authenticity of the grade. It has been slabbed via CGC. A handful of years back, I visited that site and there was an option to verify books by way of the unique identification number given to each..... well, didn't think it was possible but CGC has fallen more in my eyes, since I went to check on the book this am and this wonderful service that authentics books for Joe Public to buy now requires a paid membership to even prove that they do what they purportedly do....

That said, I know that there are a few retailers here at the JBF and possibly a few private collectors who use the servie. Anybody a paid member and willing/able to check on a number for me?

Thanks in advance for any consideration.

Well, pulled the trigger, based on the feedback the seller had, the fact that he sells estate belongings and being able to bargain back and forth to get the book at a nice price. Most impressive "5.0" I've seen and actually in better condition than my Amazing Spider-Man #1.

I'm psyched.

Congratulations.  Are you going to take it out and read it?

Ya know, I have read my Amazing Spider-Man #1 and loved every page and have cracked open other books I've picked up that just happen to have been CGC'd, but I have a few reprints, so I think I am going to play it safe and leave it entombed.

You should crack it open and read it in a hot bubble bath!

Congrats, Fred. I know the feeling of finally getting that grail book. I say open it. You gotta at least flip thru it once.

You could always have it resealed for $15 or whatever they charge.  I would have to read it through once.

Of course I just didn't spend thousands of dollars on it so that is easy for me to say!  =)

Just don't leave it lying around, or your mom will throw it out with some old newspapers.  ;)

Joe, I think I'd seriously consider doing that if Steve Ditko agreed to join me and a few other forum member for a conversation about his time on the character, letting us pick his brain.
