I have the individual issues and a tpb, that's more than enough for me. Though it is fun seeing the date on issue #137, since it's the month and year I was born.

The original cover to The phate of the Phoenix is a classic.
But, I'm sure I'm a minority here (and in the whole world), I prefer the Classic X-Men version. Love the look on Jean's face, how she's worried for what's gonna happen.

I still remember how thrilled and shocked my friends and I were when X-Men 137 came out; we had no idea it was going to end the way it did.
I'm really torn whether to get this book or not. The high price is putting me off, but the Byrne/Claremont X-Men run was one of my happiest periods reading comics. I'll probably try to hold out instead for a second Uncanny X-Men Omnibus so I can savor the remaining Byrne/Claremont issues in over-sized glory.

If it's this one then I have it too, however I've been lucky enough that it's still in excellent condition, despite reading it multiple times within the first few years, and then again every few years. I liked the story so much I didn't want to lose it, but it also seems to have great quality printing and binding. I see no need to go out and buy the same story again in reprint form - I'll put that money towards buying the original comics in good quality instead.

^ There's a "blooper" on that cover. Did everyone spot it?
Kitty is wearing a post-JB costume.

i have a copy of that TPB with a big error - halfway through the "chapters"the pages are printed upside down!!!
Still, must be flattering to have such a collection reprinted so many times!

Tony the fact that Kitty is wearing a costume at all is a "blooper".

Wolverine also seems to be wearing his brown uniform which he didn't have at the time of the story line.

You can afford this attitude towards what your own work generated… But deep inside, Mr Byrne ?

You can afford this attitude towards what your own work generated… But deep inside, Mr Byrne ?•• Deep inside, not so deep inside, and right on the surface, I am weary of this THIRTY YEAR OLD STORY being constantly pulled out, repackaged, and sold at what seems an ever higher and higher price. It should all have been forgotten long ago.
