Marvel is likely never going to get my money again for this kind of $#!^. Allow me to explain before gathering pitchforks and torches!
75 bucks for 14 issues. Granted, that's cover price and Amazon has it for 50, but not the point because they have everything for less than cover.
I picked up the final Ultimate Spider-Man HC, same oversized treatment, same amount of issues, with a cover price of $39.99. Why is this 35 dollars more? Because it says "Omnibus." Of course, I already have three of the issues in the Uncanny X-Men Omnibus vol.1 (namely issues 129-131) and that was $99.99 for 40 issues including Giant-Size #1 and Annual #3.
$75.00 divided by 14 is $5.36 per issue cover price.
$99.99 divided by 40 is $2.49 per issue cover price. Including three of the issues in the above volume!
Are they releasing an Uncanny X-Men vol.2? Will it pick up after vol.1? Will all these issues be included? Will it only be the standard $99.99 for an omnibus that size? Do I have to spend money on THIS to get those issues?
Same thing with the current run on Captain America. I have the first two Omnibuses, one is 25 issues for $74.99 the second is 18 issues for $64.99 (one issue of which, #25 was in the FIRST OMNIBUS!) and the third is solicited for $64.99 for 15 issues. 15 issues for $65 bucks is too much, so I'm just getting rid of the first two Omnibuses and that's the end of modern Cap for me. Of course, it's still ten bucks cheaper than the Dark Phoenix Omnibus with an issue more, but hey, it's MARVEL kids!
They just make this stuff up as they go along!
