I like the stark black on grey, but the yellow oval has the tug of nostalgia for me.

Nothing's more evocative of a bat than blue and yellow! (I say only half-jokingly. I don't mind the blue Batman with the yellow oval -- it's the Batman I grew up with -- it's just not my preference, by longshot.)

I prefer the black bat without the yellow oval.

I think, for me, this is a case of wanting what I don't have. When he had the oval, I thought "How much cooler would he look without it." Now that I gotten what I want, and had it for a while, I kinda want the oval back.

I like the oval. Well, I like the type of character the oval represented. More detective, less goddamn.

When he had the oval, I saw JB draw him without it in MOS 3 and thought I liked him better without it. Now that he doesn't have it anymore, I find myself missing it.

Brian,
I would hope that you would be pro-oval.
This is like a Doctor Suess story, isn't it?

You are correct, William. I am proval. It's probably because that's the version I grew up with. And he is my favorite character, so there ya go.
