The Neal Adams, Jim Aparo, Norm Breyfogle cape was *magical* -- it flowed like bat wings. There was no logic to it, but it looked damn good.

Some artists draw the cape like it's just a piece of cloth. It's a shame. If I want to see a half-assed costume, I can go to a comic-book convention.

Neal Adams, Jim Aparo and Norm Breyfogle did draw Batman's cape in a "magical" manner.... as did Marshall Rogers!!!

They really designed some awesome images of the Dark Knight.

So Batman is now like the Green Latern Corp?

I think its a "callback" to the Batmen of All Nations/Club of Heroes concept from the 50s that Morrison "decontructed" a few years back. One of his first recruits is going to be El Gaucho.

I remember when DC felt multiple versions of each character living on different Earths in different dimensions was too confusing for readers, so they eliminated that concept.  No Earth 2 etc.

This is far more confusing to me, and they seem so careful about keeping everything!  We have a semi retired Wally Flash, Barry Allen, Jay, Kid Flash, and even Jesse Quick.  The Flash family.  We also have a Superman family again, thanks to Connor Kent Superboy, Superman, Clark Kent Superboy (Adventure Comics), Supergirl, and just finished with New Krypton.  Green Lanter is a Corps, and we see more of the Corps than we used to.

And now this.  The Batman family will now have multiple Batmen.  An easy way to keep Dick Grayson as Batman maybe?

Yikes.

Also- the costume is so not pleasing to my eyes.  Not only does it have seams, but on the Batman, INC cover it seems his codpiece (for lack of a better word) has attachment points.  Yuck and why so much pointless detailing?

Man, after waking up to discover a bat got in the house last night; the idea of all those wings flapping as Batman descends to belt out some two fisted justice is extra intimidating to me this morning.

Nope, instead I was inspired to kill it as quickly as possible with a broom or get it out of the house before it hid someplace to reappear at a later date and/or woke my daughter up, but now that you mention it....

I can understand DC and WB wanting to franchise their characters to a larger audience... but characters WITHIN the Universe wanting to franchise?

I mean, the GL Corps is what it is. But the FLASH suddenly having a Speed Force? Batman having multiple Batmen? Heck, even over at Marvel you've got how many Hulks running around in what colour? Iron Fist is a legacy character now? There's going to be another Power Man because Luke Cage just goes by Luke Cage?

Even villains are getting in on it. Is Venom Eddie Brock again now that the symbiote isn't on Mac Gargan anymore? And will that new kid Scorpion still be Scorpion now that Mac's in that costume again? Kraven the hunter is not only alive again, but he has a whole Kraven FAMILY.

What the heck is up with the current phase of comics having 70 of everyone?
