Hmmmm....

'Batman Inc.' gets busy as Grant Morrison takes the hero beyond 'blue-collar' rage

Don't really have a dog in the race anymore considering I've all but dropped most mainstream superhero titles, but the notion that Batman is "franchising" his image globally doesn't sit all that well with me.  This isn't BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS where he leads a team, this is literally Batman training a group of up to ten people who will ultimately wear a costume similar to his own.  Gotta say, it feels like diluting a concept magnified ten-fold.

DC's main problem in a nutshell - too many characters wearing the same costume.
And that image actually hurt my eyes. Ghastly.

What I don't like is the "Finch-ian" (as in David Finch) way in which the material the costume is made of is both strong enough to protect him when needed, but thin (?) enough to allow his VEINS TO SHOW THRU...

Ugh. They're dropping the trunks. Always makes Batman look like he left the house with finishing getting dressed.

Looking at the poster, studying the features of the costume, I became curious about the look of the boots ... thinking that the artist could have posed the figure with one leg bent standing on the gargoyle.

Then I woke up and realized that the gargoyle is more of saint or an angel: bad form to stand of a figure of good, don't you know

This poster is almost biblical!

Then I noticed the "red dawn" and came to the conclusion that this Batman -- however demonic in appearance -- is depicted here as fighting on the side of angels standing against armageddon.

Taking that message and aligning it with the context of the yellow emblem (a return to an earlier, gentler version of the character?) I'm tempted to surmise that Bruce Wayne is about to return to his roots as the mysterious gentlemen detective -- and give up his extreme ninja persona.

Might DC start cranking out detective and mystery stories for The Batman instead of Rambo tales?

Nah, Jesus, I think you are finding symbolism in that image where none exists. It's just a really bad David Finch illustration.

That's a David Finch Batman picture? I see his name there, and while it's different media apparently, it still looks nothing like the Finch I know.

Too bad things have change so much.  But why such drastic changes?  These guys cannot compare to this.  If Batman still looked like this; do really think the readers would mind?  I don't think so.
