Terrific Cosmic Boy. I like how he's standing braced, almost as if he needs to be in order to exercise his power.

One of the things I've often pondered about superhuman depictions, is why those whose abilities are directed so often use ONLY their hands. I understand the visual dramatic considerations but Cyclops has always struck me as refreshing in this regard.

They were mean to Superboy.

(Hey! I was, like, nine! These things stick!)

It would be interesting to see how your thoughts toward the Legion might be if you had missed their first appearance because of shoddy newsstand distribution and only read their subsequent appearances.

Don't I know it! I was a bit older when Marrina disemboweled Puck, and though I get she wasn't fully in control of herself I have never been able to forgive the character for that action.

If I could go back in time and kick Adventure #247 out of JB's hand, I would.  I would LOVE to see a Byrne run on LSH.

SER: The Legion came across as jerks for some reason during the period I read them (the Silver Age Superboy and the Legion stories). The Legion of Substitute Heroes was kind of demoralizing and their exclusionary membership practices (you had to have at least one superpower) would have kept out Batman and Captain America. Feh!

I like this one a lot. The pose has a Kirby-esque feel to it, and the face reminds me of Steve Lightle a bit - my favorite Legion artist.

••

How about Matter-Eater Lad? Wasn't it eventually revealed EVERYBODY from his planet could do what he did? So that's like calling blond hair a super power!

Impossible to come anywhere near the Legion without remembering the fake Legion members Mark Gruenwald came up with.

The Legion member who can impersonate a Hollywood starlet: Cheryl Lad.

And the one who can impersonate a golden age movie star: Alan Lad.

The twin Legion members who can switch genders at will, Lass Lad and Lad Lass.

There were others. Happily, I have forgotten them!!

Wow, haven't seen that character in a long time.  Nice job, JB.

I love the attention given to the hands and feet. They are inked in solid black, but every angle of the structure feels so anatomically solid. Only the best of the best can do that. Well-done.
