…didn't waver in going after Ozy…•• My Lack of God! Cannot even WATCHMEN, the Holy of Holies, escape this infantile nicknaming of characters?

Doesn't seem like it!
I loved Watchmen but I wouldn't want to see a sequel since DC can't even do their other characters right!!

It's less an a nickname and more an abbreviation. My spelling sucks.
I also avoid typing Rorschach as much as possible for the same reason, since it breaks the flow of typing to Right-Click Mouse, select proper spelling, continue typing. Especially when I leaned back in my chair and have to stretch to reach the mouse. Easier to stick to words I can spell.
It's not as though I consider myself best pals with works of fiction. It's an informal discussion of the book and I'm treating it as such.

The idea of more Watchmen by anyone other than Moore would be a massive FAIL for me, and even that would be hard pressed to convince me to part with a dollar.

Does the flaw in that analogy even need to be mentioned? Yes. The characters exist now. Logical obstacles to further stories about them, as far as I can see, are none. IMP.

Watchmen Smatchmen!Who cares! JOHN BYRNE'S NEXT MEN IS BACK!!! •• As some of you probably already know, NEXT MEN was, at least in my part, my "response" to WATCHMEN. When I would ask fans at cons why they loved WATCHMEN so much, the answer was almost always "Because it's a REALISTIC portrayal of superheroes!" "Yes," I would say, "especially the part where they beam in the telepathic monster." NEXT MEN was my shot at "realistic" superheroes -- which meant, of course, that is was barely about superheroes at all. Right from the start it was more of a pure sci-fi outing.

Sadly, a realistic portrayal of super-powered people would be depressing as hell---like many modern comics. I like my super-heroes portrayed in a HEROIC fashion, and that's one of many reasons why I'm a Byrne fan.

""Because it's a REALISTIC portrayal of superheroes!"" There's just SO much wrong in that sentence....
I'm looking forward to Next Men, JB.

The only "realistic" depiction of a superhero I've ever seen was the first issue of "Kiss-Ass," when the kid put on the superhero outfit, and immediately got his butt kicked and ended up in the hospital. The rest of the series was pure fantasy, but I thought that first issue really captured what would happen if someone put on a flashy outfit and tried to fight crime. He'd get clobbered.

^ True, but I was thinking more of how many of us "mere mortals" would abuse our powers, not necessarily to become super-villains, but to just make tons of cash or have a reality show or secretly watch girls showering....stuff like that. :(
