Thanos:
Thanos: As for "acclaimed comics writer", the best thing I have heardaboutMoore is that Watchmen was listed in the best 100 novels of alltime.Since Watchmen IS NOT a novel, you can understand my skepticism...
===================================================
You are still arguing semantics "universally acclaimed" has only been said once in this thread (and repeated by you in your rebuttal) up untill then we were arguing acclaimed so since both Tim and Agapito have shown you examples of Moores acclaim, I think we can all agree that he is acclaimed.
Now whether or not he deserves acclaim is a differant thing, that we can argue about all day, but can not be proven either way since that would be an opinion.

OK, Mike, I agree with you, he is acclaimed. Agapito has time and again posted that he is the most acclaimed, all the while trying to prove he deserves it as well, and that's what I am fighting against all along. All satisfied now?

No, I haven't. How would I? that's a matter of opinion. I can't prove he deserves it. I can only quote his awards, or the mainstream and fan publications that praise him, or the 150 peers who collaborated in a book about his 50th birthday and on and on. In fact I've repeatedly said I've never been arguing whether he deserves it or not, nor the quality of his writing.

Hey, Websters seem to agree:
"Rorschach from Alan Moore's universally acclaimed graphic novel Watchmen"

Agapito, I don't know if this was deliberate or not, but quoting from reliable or acknowledged sources is used when trying to prove something. You are not just expressing your opinion on something that is all about taste, you are trying to back it up. If you aren't trying to prove it, why would you even care quoting like that?

Well, yes, I'm trying to prove that Moore is the subject of great critical acclaim, perhaps more than any other comic book writer.
But not that he is deserving of it. That's up to each individual's appreciation of his work.

Webster's original dictionary is in the public domain and the term "Webster's dictionary" has become a genericized trademark, so any dictionary can slap "Webster's" in front of it.

So, who's stronger: Rorschach or Mr. A?

I wouldn't mind if Rob did Watchmen II (right after Killraven and Youngblood: Africa and Bloodsport of course). Moore's Badrock VS Violator (for Liefeld) was prolly one of the best things to ever come out of Image so they're a good combination.

And of course semantics can't be put aside. How can a comic be considered one of the best novels ever?!? Can a play in Broadway receive an Academy Award? No, because it is an entirely different medium/form of art. Isn't that obvious?
Novel or not, it's on the list. On the list = acclaim.
