Let me try out a response to that, Bill:
Yes you can! Yes you can! Yes you can! You don't know what you're talking about, Bill, you're an idiot and I can't hear you anyway! ~Fingers in ears~ LA la ala lalalalaa! Unassailable Amendment! Unassailable!
Huh. So that's how it feels to be a gun nut. Ick.

"I guess we could take that reasoning and apply it to every part of the Constitution."
That would be a great idea - there's probably plenty there that is no longer relevant or even acceptable, and/or that causes problems of any number of natures.
But only a jackass of ginormous proportions would suggest that doing so would mean also negating all that is still good and relevant.

Awesome. I guess we could take that reasoning and apply it to everypart of the Constitution. That whole pesky free speech thing can reallybe a pain sometimes.

Only a jackass of ginormous proportions would suggest that one person would be the arbiter of such things, were such an effort undertaken.
Also, not the point here.
Point here: The second amendment is flawed, and needs to be readdressed and updated.
Edited to add quote for context.

"Hello, mob of angry people I have riled with my hate speech! Kill that guy!" :oP
In all seriousness, for those of you who are less cynical than me regarding the brutal way in which US Gun Nuts would respond if guns were ever outlawed...
I sincerely hope you're right.

And it's still apples and oranges. That has no bearing on the issue we're discussing here.

Don't you just love how as soon as that little ol' second amendment gets questioned the crazies like to wave the flag and rant about freedom and justice and all the good the constitution has done, like all of that is threatened because someone would like to see something done about the number of needless deaths of innocent people at gunpoint?
