It must be terrible to live in such a scary world, I mean to be so paranoid you have to be armed at all times in your own home. It would wear me out.

I was looking for a direct answer, Andy.  Would they be a criminal?

For the "anti-gun nuts".  How do you propose the government get the guns legally purchased and owned away from their current owners?  How do you propose they get guns illegally purchased and owned away from their current owners?   And how do you propose that they keep them out of the hands of those who do/would obtain them illegally once your amendment was passed?

Don't answer for anyone else but yourself, Andy.  What type of person would break into your house?

Do you, typically, have friends, family, solicitors, repairmen, etc... who break into your home rather than knock on the door?

My brother got locked out one night when he was back home for the summer during college and climbed in the window.

And I'm still looking for a direct answer.  What type of person would break into your house, Andy?

Well, if by some miracle a scenario came to pass where all guns were outlawed (except for military, police and licensed security personnell), then one would expect all law-abiding citizens to hand in their guns.

As for those who don't  ...

In case the anti-gun laws make gun ownership a felony, any accidental death resulting from gun ownership would be eligible for "felony murder" statutes, wouldn't it? And shooting an intruder with an illegal gun would be "felony murder" wouldn't it?

So basically there would be very little upside to hanging on to the gun, would there?

And when law-abiding folks have no guns, it strangely enough becomes very difficult for criminals to get any either. It's just one of those strange coincidences, I guess.

The trick is : there is a clear correlation between "law abiding folks" buying guns and the guns ending up in the hands of criminals.  The idea that if there wasn't a legal gun market, the illegal hun market would remain at least as large as it currently is? Well, it has little merit.

Koroush, I believe I stated that my life and those of my loved ones are worth more than a rapist, child molester and murderer did I not?!  You and your family do not fall into those categories, correct?  Then your fear for your safety in unwarranted.

---

Scott*... if you fire that gun and a stray bullet goes through the window, and it kills my little girl in her bedroom in the house behind yours, then yes, YES YOU DO VALUE YOU YOUR FAMILY MORE THAN MINE.

My daughter had to die so you could save yours, and that's a fair trade-off for you. Because if you were defending yourself with a bat, a crowbar, an axe, a can of mace, a taser, etc, my kid wouldn't be dead. But you're willing to take that chance to protect yours.

Nice guy.

*Accidentally wrote "Andy" here, sorry Andy! Also, writing this explanation so people don't think I'm in love with 1984.

Remembering that I'm on the anti-gun side here ...

Who doesn't love/favor his or her family more than a family of strangers?  Are you ever as sad to see a stranger die as you would be to see a parent, your spouse, or your child?

Let's see...I would sneak in and out of my house when I was a teenager so, technically, I was breaking into my own home (note: my parents were gun owners and I was never shot).  I'm assuming that some day one of my boys will sneak in/out of the house and will, technically, be breaking in.

Criminals or someone with criminal intent would break into my house.

Before you have me shooting a family member for sneaking into the house or my dog for farting in the den in the middle of the night...  Like I told JB, if I had reason to suspect that someone was attempting to enter my home illegally I'd call the cops, let them know I had and that I had a gun.

I would not shoot through the door or the window.  I would not run through the house like a madman shooting anything/everything that moved.  I would not, could not shoot first and ask questions later.  I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I Am.

"Criminals or someone with criminal intent would break into my house. "

So, someone whose life is worth less then yours then, in your estimation.
