No.  I don't value their lives as much as I do others...sorry...they made a choice, they made the decision and they've got to suffer the consequences.  I don't value the lives of those who lose them knowingly engaging in something that has the potential to take the life of an innocent.
I value the lives of those unfortunate enough to be in their path though, of the kids who end up on the drugs they sell, of the woman who ends up beaten and broken after they satisfy themselves, of the mothers, fathers, sons and daughters who won't be waking up tomorrow because some dumbshit decided to break the law today.

Now...I've gotta run and won't be here for a couple of days to take my lumps...I'll check back in to see how bad I get slammed later.

Can you first answer my question about whether or not you think a life is worth less if it's lost during a crime before you go? Please?

So, a human life is worth less when the person who lost it did so during the commission of a crime.

Carnac was right.

Ah, moral relativism.  Makes things like defending guns sooo much easier to justify.

"Some people are just plain worth less than others, so let's not bother changing a system that might make them safer too."

It's all part of the wonderful black-and-white good-and-evil world some people want to live in. The "good guys" must have guns so the "bad guys" can be defeated. If a "bad guy" dies, it's not a problem. Not surprisingly many of these people are also deeply religious. Which in itself is ironic because I thought Christianity taught them that judgment is only for God, and "thou shalt not kill" is a Commandment they should abide by. Or is that "thou shalt not kill unless the bastard is trying to steal my Chevy"?

The foaming of the mouth on BOTH sides of this arguement is a sad display of civilized discourse. Of course I'm on the ignore list, so I'm relegated to a secondary class of society already. If only I could reach the moral high ground.

Nite all...

Funny how it all seems tied together like that.

The very attitude those threatening innocents take..."Some people are just plain worth less than others…".

So, if I see the arguement correctly everyone would rather turn the cheek and die for their belief in "do no harm" and that life, any life is sacred. How devotely christian of you all, in theory anyway. It's an extremely noble ideal.

Reality, and mileage, may vary.

You're right.  The life at the other end of a gun barrell means less to the person holding the gun, no matter who they are.
