I gotta give another shout-out here for Valerie Bertinelli.  She was the one who made me aware that I like girls.  Thanks for the memories, Val!

BTW, I have been reading more and more articles lately about genes being found to explain this behavior or that behavior.  How long before fetuses are being screened not only for diseases, but for alcoholism, violent tendencies, compliant tendencies, work ethic, musical ability, etc.?  "What brave new world, that's got such crap in it!", a wise man once (sorta) said.

You can't have followers of Christ - Christians - unless they get Christ from the New Testament. If in your eyes the only Bible that matters is the Old Testament, you are not a Christian. You CAN'T be. There's no Christ to follow there

***********************

Like I said, I'm no biblical scholar. Whatever it may have been called before Christ, it was still what Christianity is today. It just had some elements missing. The basic tenets and ideals were all in place.

I'm also no a Christian. I think it's all hogwash.

Well, really, I should have underscored see also , included the edition and publishing info in a first parenthetical, and then added a second explanatory parenthetical, which is preferred in using see also, etc....! GAH!

Lawyers is nuts, ain't we, Geoff?

Well, it was called "Judaism" -- and it was VERY different from what we call "Christianity", which Jesus himself would have trouble recognizing as based on any of his teachings!

Which, reads as following: "and just as Moses held the snake high in the desert, thus must the son of man be held high", which of course doesn't mention the snake in Genesis and of course it pre-hashes Jesus on the cross.
Just because there is mention of a snake doesn't mean it refers to THAT snake.

I'll see your John 3:14-15, and raise you Luke 14:26.

Which of course comes after a story about someone (God) who called some people to His house and they all denied because of everyday preoccupations. Jesus says that whoever wants to become his disciple must be ready to sacrifice and abandon everything. I don't get what you are reading there, JB.

Very cool idea, JB.  I'm not sure if anybody has yet to discover a method of identifying sexual orientation at -- or before -- birth, though.  (And actually, that's kind of a scary idea ... do we want to give parents the opportunity to abort their unborn child because he/she has been identified as homosexual?)

JB Sez Pedophiles are almost certainly "born that way". Again, we go to evolutionary conditioning. Seek the youngest, strongest, most healthy, for breeding purposes. A sure (or as sure as it gets) way to guarantee the survival of your genes.

This I have to disagree with, with respect.  My understanding of the subject is that people are more likely to molest children if they themselves had been molested as a child -- implying a learned behavior -- but if you watch the news, it seems that the most common aggressor tends to be a boyfriend, step-father, or, in some cases, distant relative.  It's rarely the father or mother, unless they themselves were molested as children.

It sort of goes back to the concept that environment plays a dramatically more important role than genetics in a person's mentality and behaviors, which seems to be pretty heavily supported academically.
