Ive searched for awhile and havent seen these 2 questions at all if I missed the thread please let me know anyways off to question Mr Byrne himself

1.) I know you personally didn't like Alpha Flight but I was just wondering what your plans were with Marrina when you created her?

2.) when I started reading Alpha I was really interested in the Dan Smallwood subplot what were plans with that if any?

and thank you for taking time to read my questions

1) Well -- not what happened to her in THE AVENGERS!! I didn't really have anything nailed down for her. I just planned to let the character find her own way along the path defined by what I had already established.

2) Dan was Marina's "Lana Lang" -- the one who got left behind when she went out into the big bad world to play superhero. As such, he would have turned up from time to time, whenever he story needed a little complicating!

I am a huge fan of Alpha Flight in general, and of three elements in particular:  Marina, the Plodex, and the Master.  For years I used to hold out hope that JB would do a Plodex mini or one-shot.  Your sf stuff is always fun, JB.

Who messed up Marina in the Avengers? Was it Stern or Simonson? I can't remember.

believe it was simonson for some reason I'm going to have t do some research, Marrina was probably my favorite creation of byrne if not for her truly original back story, worst part about her death was that John didn't even drop hints to the fact she would transform iinto a 100 foot long leviathon

Using an exacto knife and a little Liquid Paper I reworked the logo on the ROLODEX on my desk back in my office-job years to read PLODEX.  Six years; two people got the joke.

Hate to think what you might have done to a ROLEX.

I on the other hand would love to see what he could do with a ROLEX, make a new watch brand.

I liked Mantlo a lot on Micronauts and Hulk, but what he did to Alpha Flight shouldn't happen to a dog.  :(

I totally agree Mantlo had awesome runs with both micronauts and ROM, and maybe at the time he thought it was the best for the book but really to have puck who happened to be  true little person as Mr Byrne wrote him and Roger Bochs a paraplegic the way he ruined those 2 characters especially Bochs was truly shameful and really hard to forgive
