Awesome! Leave it to JB to make even Stilt-Man look menacing.

Poor Daredevil never did get a well rounded rogues gallery did he? It says something that the lead villain there is borrowed from Spider-Man!

With all due respect to the original (Colan?) artist, this is a big improvement. Stiltman's legs effectively framing the whole thing is inspired, Electro looks like the wiry maniac he should and Gladiator looks like he was born to be drawn by JB. Your DD always rocks, especially the slightly low boots and shorter gloves you give him -- and the way you treat the blacks differently on his body to the gloves and boots. Looking at it, the highlights/shadows you have drawn on DD are crazily difficult.

About Matador, his pose in the original cover is (sorry for the ORIGINAL ARTIST, but beeing spanish I know something about bullfighting) an abosulte nonsense. Byrne makes him look even scary, sure he´s gonna do something dangerous with his cape.

Woah. Electro is bursting with energy. And I love the texture on Leap-Frog.

Daredevil looks great!
edit to add: I really like the "shine" on his top and pants, but solid color on his gloves and boots.

As a comic fan in the early 80s, I didn't have a lot of stuff from the early age of Marvel - it just didn't (still doesn't in most cases) interest me. (My consistant rule is: If it ain't drawn by Ditko, it ain't for me.) DD annual 1 was a rare exception. (Thor annual 1 for some reason, too) It was a quarter in a back issue bin (remember when back issues were cheap???) and being a fan of the Frog-Man from 80s Spider-Man comics, I picked it up. It was a good read, but, you know, it wasn't the moody noir that I knew 80's DD to be, so as a kid, it was a novelty comic for me... Having said that, this commission is awesome - JB is right in that he had done those characters before, in passing in OHOTMU, but this is the first time REALLY drawing them, and I take special note of Frog-Man, an old favorite of mine, who, honestly, never looked better. Damn fine work, JB.

Not one of Gentleman Gene's more dynamic covers (but I hasten to add that he absolutely NAILED the interior; this was one issue from which I swiped repeatedly and relentlessly when, as a child, I made my own comics). Your re-imagining is certainly superior, JB. I particularly like that you can clearly tell that the boots and gloves are of a different material than the costume (your super-hero name should be Texture-Master!). Edited to add: this was Stan Lee's Daredevil version of the "Spider-Man vs. the Sinister Six" annual, now, wasn't it?

The whole commission is just fantastic, but if you wanted to take an X-Acto knife, cut out Electro and send him to me, I'd be mighty obliged. He's stunning.
