…the author of the article referred to the suit as, and I quote,"a magic pair of jammies"

••

It's reached the ZAP! POW! BAM! level. For some writers, it is almost compulsory.

Like how every single TV spot about Star Trek will ALWAYS finish with the reporter 'beaming up.' I realise they think the viewer will think 'haha, that's cute' but I guess in a way it's shows some contempt... they don't end items on Jesus with the reporter being nailed to a cross (first stupid anology that came to mind).

There's a saying in Hollywood: Nobody wants to be first, but everybody wants to be second.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in much of what passes for "journalism" these days -- where it seems many are content to be 4,372nd!

Star Trek's Starfleet uniforms often get called pajamas. Which is something I dont get. Especially if its a dicussion of TOS.

Well, whenever they talk about TOS, they can't bear to not mention the miniskirts.  Even Star Trek itself went there (in the infamous DS-9 episode).

I mentioned upthread my dislike of the modern trend of putting Wonder Woman in armor, usually of vaguely ancient Grecian design.  It seems such a blatant attempt to make her look less like a superhero.

When I've discussed the issue online with other Wonder Woman fans, the response is typically some variation of how "realistically" that's what an Amazon would wear.  Now I'll put aside the absurdity of discussing "realism" when it comes to a fictional superhero based on a mythological race.  But the Amazons were not Greek; the ancient Greeks placed them in Asia Minor.  They also lopped off one of their breasts so as not to impede their archery skills.  So "realistically" Wonder Woman should be a single-breasted Turkish woman.

Mike Sweeny:   I thought that the remark about TOS fashions was tasteful and respectful in that DS9 episode.  Dax sold it perfectly.

No they don't, but sure would bring in ratings; "Anchorman Crucified! Film at eleven."

Pedantic mode: I dont think the Turks lived in that region back then.
