See my problem with the occasional "battle armor" approach (as opposed to the ceremonial armor) is, if it offers greater protection (which it presumably does, or why bother with it?) then why not wear it all the time? Super villains don't schedule appointments, so it's not like Wonder Woman knows in advance when she might have to battle Darkseid or Bizarro or something. If she has better armor, and chooses not to use it regularly, then that's rather foolish of her.

I didn't see any reference in this thread to Project Rooftop's renditions of Wonder Woman from a while back- Almost any of these are better in my mind than the Jim Lee re-do... Check it here...

Most of those costumes are too busy for my taste; Wonder Woman's costume already leans to the busy side, and the best tweaks or revisions streamline her look somewhat.
This one's not bad though, if you take away the boots on top of boots:

I kinda like that boot design. Honestly, I found most of the designs - all done by non-professionals - to be at least interesting and quite a few were Elseworlds worthy.

Always enjoy the Project Rooftop offerings, even when they don't hit the mark. Here's my favorite Wonder Woman outing. Not a serious candidate for in-continuity superheroing, but ridiculously cute:

I feel like I I've been bludgeoned over the head with all this WW stuff over the past few days. Suffice to say that anything that takes her away from all the amazon/Greek mythology stuff, 'grounds' her and uses the term 'street fighter' just turns me off completely. I've never liked Jim Lee's art and, to me, JMS comes over as if being a one-time TV writer makes him a big cheese in the comics pond.
It's all a big stunt for publicity, anyway. I guess the proof will be whether it sells after the all the hoo-haw dies down.

Some will buy it because they like the idea, others will buy it because they want to see a train wreck. Either way DC will win and we will be stuck with this Black Cana...er Wonder Woman for a while.

I like this one the best.•• But that's really just a busy-fied version of the extant outfit. Last thing the slowpokes who seem to represent the majority of modern comicbook artists need is MORE to have to draw!!

Darwyn Cook had some nice WW designs in New Frontier - --- Thanks for giving me an excuse to say how much I like that look again. If there's going to be a change for Wonder Woman, that's the one I'd most like to see. And could we please have Darwyn Cook or Cameron Stewart draw it?

I like that one, and agree with you about the boot tops.
