Just great!! Tough call, but I think Green Goblin is my favorite amongst the villains.

That's awesome, great idea for a commission! I hope we get to see the opposite version of this one!

I figured that with the spike in posts, the finished product must be up. Brilliant execution, John! It's a great commission idea too.

I've largely taken to not posting the bigger, sideways versions of these 20x30s since Dapper Dan is usually so quick to get them up in the Gallery, when I send the full sized image to him. But, today, he seems to be elsewhere -- distracted by Dad's Day, perhaps? -- so here's the larger pic to tide you all over.

JB, let me say again how much I appreciate that you (and the commissioners of the artwork) share these pieces with us. It's one of the best parts of coming to the board for me.

WOW!!! Again, I love your take on Sandman, and I can only imagine how it would look to have Batman knock Green Goblin off his flyer and then hoping on it himself! Batman flying the bat-shaped flyer....!

You know, just when you've thought you've seen the best commission, along comes another one that just blows you out of the water! It looks great, is a great idea and most important, FUN!! I really love these crossovers a lot.
I wonder how our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is doing with Batman's villains??
Just had a thought, is this a Marvel-Team Up or The Brave and The Bold? I'm sure it must be a Bob Haney story, he ignored those pesky other worlds stuff and just wrote what he liked.

Fantastic! I really like the work-in progress that kicks off the thread - interesting to see the evolution of something as wonderfully complex and dynamic as this.

…interesting to see the evolution of something as wonderfully complex and dynamic as this.•• Someone upthread asked about the composing of images like this. I have mentioned before -- but it's always worth repeating -- that I usually start (after laying down my perspective grid) with the characters I feel are going to dominate the shot. In this case, that was Batman (ah, doy!) and Octavius. Once they were sketched it, with Octopus' arms defining the space around them, I set about picking the most logical figures to occupy each area of negative space. One small change I made to my usual approach, in this one, was having the horizon light be slightly higher than the rooftop. Ordinarily I would set the roof level with, or higher than, the horizon, but I'd already decided I wanted the Rhino charging along (and shattering) the edging stonework, so I wanted the camera high enough to make that clear.
