The Steve Ditko Spider-man is my all time favorite and nobody captures the feel of that era like John Byrne. Wonderful pics!

Slightly off-topic: has the Vulture ever met/fought/pecked bread crumbs/shat on statues in Central Park with the Angel (or whatever Warren Worthington III is called these days)? Don't tell me M****l missed out on THAT cross-over [or should I say, X-over (nudge-nudge, wink-wink)] opportunity!

Good stuff.
My favourite part? The Tinkerer's trousers. Love the way the creases and folds are rendered. It brings to mind a specific panel that stuck in my mind when I first saw Klaus Janson's inks over your pencils on WOLVERINE.

Neat stuff! I wouldn't change anything about either the Vulture or the Tinkerer.

Yes, beautiful stuff. And I was going to mention Chapter One as well. I only learned of it on this board(having been away from current comics for awhile), and I really must get hold of that series. Or does anyone know if there's any chance of a TPB? And when will Rog:2000 appear again in collected form? There was a collection many years ago, but a page or two were out of order so I didn't want it. Maybe in another twenty years I'll get to read it. (Apologies for whinging and thread drift.)

"I now have the urge to read some 25 year old comics, and it's a good thing!"
********
If you're referring to the original Ditko Spider-Man issues you better make that more like 45 year old comics!
I'm thrilled to see this series continue and absolutely giddy at the prospect of watching it continue! The Vulture gets insulted quite a bit by fans and creators over the years but there is no doubt in those early appearances he was a major threat to young Mr. Parker!

The commissions bring to mind the similarities between Steve Ditko and Joe Kubert. I find echoes of both of these gentlemen and seem to recall reading somewhere that Kubert was irritated that Ditko "aped" his style. Don't have the book in front of me but I recall a single panel, in the origin of Dr. Strange, that I would have swore was Kubert. I believe it was a depiction of a derelict Stephen Strange overhearing talk of the "Ancient One". Anyway, JB's work on these commissions is a sublime capture of the originals.

I wonder how artists in general feel when others ape their style. On the one hand, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and on the other, it could be taken as an insult as the artist who is drawing the piece is saying "I can draw your style if i wanted to."
