Fantastic. As much as I liked the original cover, this is much better.

These pictures make me happy and sad -- happy to see how these characters look under a master's hand and sad that I only see that on this Board. Not that I haven't enjoyed the IDW stuff I've read I just miss JB at DC and Marvel.

JB-
You think Shooter honestly felt the sketch was superior to what you handed in, or was he "teaching you a lesson"?

In another thread, I mentioned being ordered by Shooter to redraw a cover I'd sent in
Where's the original?

Late to the thread as usual but add me to the list of those that are offering praise.
JB, in addition to the overall piece of course, I really like Colossus' right bicep, Banshee's left hand and the bedraggled look on his face and Wolverine's left bicep. It's got a subtle little twist to it that gives him the illusion of movement and overall his arm just looks rock hard.
Rock hard, as opposed to body-builder smooth and symmetrical, which would certainly be appropriate for a guy like Wolverine.
Magneto's pose is also very well done and the weight distribution is really well portrayed.
This is yet another fine example of the "new stuff" being...well, I was going to say better but that word just isn't strong enough. Superior? It's just on a higher level and really isn't comparable to what was done 30 years ago. And I'm talking about the one you did before it was stupidly rejected by Shooter.

Only in the Gallery -- look in the Covers folder, then in the X-Men sub-folder.

JB, did Shooter mess with everyone as much as he messed with you? Makes you wonder why everyone today gets a free pass on the crap that goes out vs. what you had to go through always trying to do the right thing. Not really fair. That cover is clearly better because it is zoomed in more. Isn't that what one would want for a cover?

Wow I love the commission. I also REALLY love the original (before Shooter). Something about Phoenix' face really sends me. She seems so alien and dangerous. Wow. Did Terry or Bob ink the original?
