people have the "right" to deliberately offend others.

Not in public schools, especially after incidents like Columbine.

Bullying still goes unabated (for the most part) in public schools and if the receiver of the bullying stands up for themselves, they get punished.

No matter what someone does, no matter how much they sanitize it, there will be someone else who is offended by it personally or on behalf of others.

Not sure I quite understand this. Are you equating someone's right to speak out and perhaps, or more than likely, offend others shouldn't be allowed in public schools at all under any circumstances?  Really? And what's the link between possibly offending someone and the Columbine shootings?

Were the kids wearing the flag doing anything else? Because if somebody is offended by the mere image of the American flag in America then they deserve to be offended.

No one got around to being offended, Victor - the Principal acted proactively - and it wasn't a matter of being "offended" - it was some kids trying to cause trouble in the school setting by using the flag to get a reaction.

So the principal was mind reading. What was his proof they were causing trouble? I think its disgraceful that the American flag was barred from a American high school for any reason.

Bullshit! When a group wears the flag on a certain day specifically to piss off the Hispanic population then that is just being an asshole. Plain and simple.

Did those students have the right to do what they did? Sure. But I also have the right to say they were complete and utter asshats. It's one thing to be proud of your country. It's another thing completely to use that as an excuse to shit on someone elses heritage. Those kids didn't do that for any other reason than to be assholes.

Look, I'm as jingoistic as it comes.  And I love me some Old Glory.  And I hate and refuse to acknowledge the Budweiser holiday that falls on the 5th of May.

But those kids were trying to stir shit up.  Just because they don't like the Cinco de Mayo celebrants doesn't give them the right to stir shit up and try to hide behind 1st amendment and pride in the flag.  People celebrating Cinco de Mayo don't denigrate our flag by celebrating something else (even tho most of them don't understand that they're really just celebrating a victorty over the French)  Plain and simple those 3 kids were trying to be assholes and they succeeded

All im asking for is proof. All we have is the opinion of a school administrator.

Also why are they offended by the flag of the country they are so desperate to live in? Though there is no proof they are offended. Just the word of a school administrator.

Why would Mexican-Americans be "desperate" to live in their own
country?

That's a good point actually. Though the news story gave the implication they were not born here. Why else would they be offended by the American flag?

Why would they be offended by the American flag IN AMERICA seems somehow more to the point.

This is something I have noticed with increasing ire over the past few decades. When Americans go to foreign lands, we must respect the customs and social niceties of those lands. And when people from other lands come to America, we must respect their customs and social niceties.

Which doesn't seem to leave a lot of room for anybody to respect OUR customs and social niceties!
