I agree with Michael Tortorice, it really helps when he's smiling. There's an old fashioned quality to his face, which also helps. Looks like Superman in the first photo with the child, not so much in the others. He's body looks a bit oddly proportioned to me in the photo with the Supergirl; he's chest is so expansive that he's head looks a bit too small.

His nose isn't quite right and I'm kind of surprised his neck isn't bigger considering he must work out quite a bit but I think the latter could actually be "fixed".

He has some acting credits but I don't know if he can do it well.  The fact that he actually wants to star as Superman might be a good thing if they make another movie.

What got me started down that path last night I don't remember but I found the bluetights.net site and their forum had two threads dedicated to casting of a new Superman.  I browsed about 200 pages of the more recent 650+ page thread and none of the usual suggestions seem to be any better than this guy in terms of nailing the look.

Most of them seem to me that they would not embrace being Superman.

Doubt I'll ever get to go to the Celebration and I have no desire to go to the SDCC again so I don't know if I'll get to see this guy in person but he seems to fit the part even if he doesn't hit the look.

With a digital "wig", a little makeup to soften some of the lines around the eyes and a thicker neck:
