You really need the colorist to be on board with that decision or you get lots of square eye pupils instead of square eye protectors.

Agreed. I consider them to be "lenses" of some sort.

You really need the colorist to be on board with that decision or you get lots of square eye pupils instead of square eye protectors.•• When he was an editor (and even since) Roger Stern used to complain that some of the production staff, colorists in particular, had a bad habit of looking only at the most recent previous appearance of a character in order to check colors -- which was how mistakes often got perpetuated. (It was not unique to Marvel, either. I practically had to declare war on the coloring department, up at DC, to get Darkseid's arms and legs restored to their proper, original grey, rather than the pinkish-purple they had become.) When I brought back the eye shields, or lenses, or whatever they are, they were colored incorrectly. (In those days I was not shown the coloring for proofing). Seems that everybody since looked at that, and not Kirby's original.

That is virtually identical to my list! I'd squeeze Alan Davis and Art Adams in there, maybe just ahead of Moebius, but it's a VERY good list! ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- Yes! Alan Davis would be next after John Byrne on my list of favorite Galactus visuals artists. Michael Golden would also be in there (X-men Annual 7.... even though it was really Impossible Man), followed by Moebius and Jack Kirby. I love John Buscema's work, but never cared for his version of Galactus.

I like it but with two exceptions.... I don't like when Galactus removes his head gear, I always thought of his armor as a containment suit. Also, I've always seen Morg as a knock off of Terrax.

I don't like when Galactus removes his head gear, I always thought of his armor as a containment suit.•• Well, I'll bet you didn't "always" think that! I probably planted that seed in you brain, talking about the conclusion of "The Last Galactus Story". But, alas, since my tale remains unfinished, the only canon, thusfar, is Layton's HERCULES miniseries, in which Galactus not only removes his helmet, but gets drunk! (We'll just ignore the fact that this was done almost immediately after I spent 2 years, in FANTASTIC FOUR, "restoring" Galactus -- on Shooter's orders!) That toy is clearly based on Layton's version, which ignored how Kirby had portrayed the face of Galen, before he became Galactus.

They got the eyes right on those Mini Mates! •• Right to the extent that the square elements are part of the helmet, but wrong colors.
