I notice that some artists draw him like a majestic force of nature and some just draw him like a "Super Villain". I'm not much of a fan of the pics that have Galactus with gritted teeth.•• When I started writing and drawing FANTASTIC FOUR, one of the first things Jim Shooter, as EiC, said to me was "Redeem Galactus!" The character, one of the greatest -- and most intellectually challenging -- Stan and Jack created, had indeed fallen on hard times. He had become a "cosmic thug", and much of his original grandeur had been whittled away. (The most ignominious moment was surely when he "ate" the planet Poppup and developed "cosmic indigestion".) So, since I really, really, REALLY liked the character, I took Shooter's words very much to heart, and over the next four years set about rebuilding Galactus in his original image. This culminated with "The Trial of Reed Richards" in FF 262, cover dated January 1984. Of course, it was WHILE I was doing this that Shooter authorized the HERCULES miniseries, in which Galactus gets drunk and takes off his helmet. sigh
