Whoa! I love how this piece looks! This turned out to be a meeting of the minds, even though our minds never met. I have no desire to ask for certain touches in this series of villians. (I'm not asking for a certain pose or character holding something.) I plan on sending Jim an email saying "The Vulture" and then wait for the result. Having said that I almost broke my rule and wanted to tell Jim to request the Chameleon in the Spider-Man costume as he wore in Amazing #1. But I thought better of it. I figure I'm paying JB to be JB and he will do what's best for the character. Then I open up this link and see the same idea I was contemplating, but never asked for. As stated by others, this has a bit of creepiness to it. The look on his "face" to the masks discarded around him make for a very menacing illo. The faux Spider-Man costume is insane with detail. From the webbing under the arms to how the scallops on the costume just pop. I simply love this. Thank you, JB!

Congrats, Paul. For anyone: Just curious as to what the Chameleon's origin is. I don't have a clue.

First of all, because it would look kind of silly in any kind of "space filling" action pose. And second, because it would deprive me of a chance to draw the Ditko era Spider-Costume!

Like everybody else said, I agree, this is awesome. The description of it being creepy, unsettling, and very Ditko-esque is so true. This piece makes me want to read more Chameleon stories, but I am not sure that they could match JB has done here. When it comes to the Chameleon, I think the only stories I have ever read of him are his appearances in the Lee/Ditko era. I have always wondered if that was his face, a mask, what? And just what were those goggles for? I often wondered if they were his reading glasses. Awesome job, JB! Can't wait to see the rest.

I thought this was a great idea when this series was announced in the burglar commission thread, but I didn't know it was Paul's idea. I tip my hat to Commissioner Greer!
This is wonderfully creepy, JB - something about the blankness of his "real" face contrasted to the reality of the masks he strips off has always creeped me out.
