Judomaster & Tiger are dead with Judomaster replaced by a female character.

Son of Vulcan was reimagined as a kid and he was killed off.

They have Captain Atom on a see-saw of is he redeemed or is he Monarch? Right now he's in the being redeemed cycle fresh off being Monarch and kidnapping heroes to fight each other from the multiverse in Countdown Arena (where the writer gave an interview saying that the Watchmen & Dark Knight characters were too sacred to use).

Nightshade and Peacemaker are unrecognizable to the point  of might as well be new.

The PTB at DC at the time of Watchmen made a great decision to have Moore do whatever he wanted to his "spin-ff clones" just so that the original inspirations would remain untouched. Sad thing is, that mentality has changed so much so that writers are now allowed to piss on, change and kill off characters seemingly at will. 25 years ago, we wouldn't have had ninja-Batman, Sue Dinby's rape, Blue Beetle's on-panel murder, etc. Nowadays, DC would have gladly given Moore the Charlton characters to massacre.

Saw an item yesterday that claims DC are "secretly" plannning to do several Watchmen prequel miniseries, followed up by a number of spin off series. Says that Levitz was the only one keeping them from doing such previously. Just an unfounded rumor, hopefully.

Ed Love: I wasn't aware of all the things that had happened to those characters.

Don't forget the Blue Beetle!  He's another Charlton character that's been totally misused and abused.

I can't understand why DC let this happen to the Charlton characters. Wasn't this why Dick Giordano and Paul Levitz insisted Moore create his own characters as they didn't want to abuse viable characters??

Charlton characters are truly DC's second class citizens. They're relatively popular characters, which only seems to encourage experimentation / abuse.

And just think: DC now has the THUNDER Agents to care for, after all their good work done with the Fawcett and Charlton heroes...

It's not just Charlton. Since Crisis on Infinite Earths, all the characters not native to DC have fared badly. The Quality characters who had survived mostly intact from the ravages of time until then have been killed, replaced or changed for the most part. And, even their replacements like Damage, Black Condor, Firebrand II & III and Phantom Lady were darkened or killed. The pattern repeats itself with the Fawcett characters, the few they have actually used. Actually makes you happy that some get to stay in limbo untouched by modern creators. With Charlton, it's ironic since Watchmen was created to avoid that very type of treatment.

Matthew, I think that due to legal matters DC can't really use the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents...although they can reprint their old adventures...That is unless something has changed.
