Thumbing through some of my old Metal Men issues while scanning covers for the "Your Oldest Comics" thread, I rediscovered a few adverts that never failed to grab my attention as a wee lad: Being an early naval buff, I can remember asking my parents if I could get this, and being told flatly "no". 40 years later, I can now guess that the tag line "World's Greatest Nuclear Naval Battle Game!" may have had something to do with that...

Sadly, this is the Superman I remember the most. He seemed a lot friendlier and happier back then...

Bill the ads were some of my favorite parts, I so wanted the 7 foot sub. I could never save the money, but now I just saw there was a 10 day free trail, dang!

Seem to remember some magazine article that showed exactly what you would get if these were ordered... The "exploding tanks" just had rubberbands that popped off the turret. Of course, in today's collectible game environment, you only get one or two tanks and pay through the nose for it... ;)

Jodi, I wanted one of those 7 foot long Polaris submarines as well! At least until one of my neighborhood friends got one and I found out it was just made out of printed corrugated cardboard (we had fun with it though, which was the important thing!)

You are now "the Man" Paul. I have never seen the real sub before!
