Captain America #112, from 1969 - two years before I was born. Bought it in a comics shop dirt cheap when I was in my late teens or early 20s (20-22ish).

I used to have a comic that was older, but it had the cover missing when I bought it. It was some Marvel book from 1967 or 68, that was just reprints. (Had Avengers #2 and Daredevil #1 in it; It had more than that, but I forget the rest)

Brian - that coverless marvel comic you had was Marvel Super-Heroes #1 from 1966.  Here's the cover for you.

(On the cover it looks like Daredevil was fighting a costumed villain - in the story, it's a boxer/wrestler from the Fixer's Gym - wearing trunks but no shirt or leggings)

Here's one that in retrospect, got away from me.  In 1969, when I was in Toronto, I had a chance to buy this one for $20.  I thought about it, and passed on it in favor of purchasing a number of Tales to Astonish (#59 - 68) and other 60's Marvel mags to fill holes in my collection.  I was 12, and I only had so much cash (which went a long way in 1969), and was really into Marvel at the time. Choices, choices, choices...

On the other hand, I did manage to get these two mags for $0.50 each later in the year when I was back in Edmonton.

I still own these today.

50 cents in 1969 was worth something <g>.
