Sounds like it's the implication in the comic that tea baggers are white supremists.

I had already decided to drop Captain America from my pulls, I find the writing and storyline insulting enough. Captain America is the last comic I ever expected to leave, pretty soon I am going to be left with just Fables TPB's

Not that political issues are necessarily inappropriate as subject matter for a comic book, but when you've got the material written for the most part by young leftists with an ax to grind, you don't get much balance in the presentation. Such one-sidedness not only risks insulting a portion of your audience, but it makes for pretty poor drama. I've noted amongst my liberal friends a very interesting dynamic: the assumption that any disagreement with the politics of Washington is based on latent racism. Thus, the Tea Party Movement isn't a tax revolt in their view, but a racist movement against Obama. The Captain America story plays directly into supporting that unfounded reasoning.

They apologize for depicting a certain group in a bad light, fine. How about apologizing for the reference to the actual act of teabagging in my friggin' Captain America comic?

Great post Matthew. Back in the 70's Cap, and even the Avengers did do some stories with social issues, more so than political issues, and even then it was a little more balanced. Not that both sides always had a legitimate point of view, but an effort was made to at least see where the other point of view was coming from.

Either this has got to be a cheap publicity stunt or someone doesn't know how to do their job. How long have they been doing this to not double check pages before print? Especially with today's technology. PDF proofs are very common now. It wouldn't take that much effort to finalize any changes.

I've gone to two Tea party rallies. I guess that's sort of like me joining up with A.I.M. I guess I'm supposed to pay $4 for a cheap slap in the face. Oh well. I stopped reading comics a while ago (Wonder Dog ate Marvin and put Wendy in a coma? Ick.) so no harm no foul I guess.
