Stupid ideas that made money and brought the company back from financial ruin.

He targetted the right audience. I know some will disagree with me, but he succeeded by not going after the 30-something crowd that so many seem to think he is catering to.  I see Marvel more going after the highschool and college crowd. Those are the people I see more at the comics and tades in bookstores and in my LCSs.

Are the comics meant for most of us.  Nope.  Will they continue? Probably so as long as the publishing money continues to increase.

What are some thoughts from the forum about what has occurred at Marvel over the past decade?

Great reprints of the old stuff.

Which didn't have much to do with the comic books themselves.

I quit back at the end of the 80's, maybe very early 90's, and I've been reading the Avengers on my DVD into '93 or so, and my god some of it is horrible. Twice in this time frame I've seen artists dropped on the series and it's not even good fanzine art. yes, the artist did improve, but it was horrible at the outset. Not going to mention specific artists, as that's mean and negative, but wow. What year did Quesada start?

I don't believe a teenager's gonna be interested in nostalgia about anything published pre-1997. We're in 2010, come on! It's obvious who's being catered to.

I was excited about it at first, but considering the turnout, none-to-pleased. Then again, being a Lions fan, I thought Millen was good hire.

*************

Quesada took over in 2000, hence the ten year anniversary referenced in this thread.  The early 90s era you're referencing is way before The Queasy Era.

Yesterday, at an airport lounge I saw a kid, about six or seven, paging through a Spider-man comic.  I felt concerned about what he might find in there.  Best-case scenario, very boring talking heads.

I like the Essentials, are those strictly from from the last 10 years?  I enjoy the Stand from Marvel, but that's about it.
