Not quite his first appearance, but Captain America's costume only really works in its classic form. All the tweaks he's been given lately just detract from the aesthetic of that great design.

Anyone who thinks he's going to "improve" on a Cockrum costume design should really think long and hard before he takes that leap. I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying it's highly unlikely

The attempts to change Nightcrawler's costume have all been so pointless, they all try to stay close to the original but change it just enough to be "different".

Havok and Thor are both good choices. I'd add Black Panther, Magneto and Doctor Doom.

There is no doubt in my mind that the original Nightcrawler costume is the only costume he should wear. And for that matter, the original costumes Colossus, Storm, Havok and the others wore were so perfect, why in the world would anything be an improvement on such classic and colorful iconic looks? I just don't get why artists have to re-design everything. You can 'leave your mark' on the characters by writing and drawing them faithfully and telling great stories, not making them look like new characters. Most of us love the way superheroes look and the classic look of their costumes is how we know who they are.

I bought the latest issue of X-Men Forever yesterday... --- So did I... *shudder* I have yet to see any Nightcrawler costume that suits him better than the first. The same can be said of Thor, Colossus and Magneto.

Magneto's costume is great, but I don't despise the one ideated by Neal Adams. Havok is another character with an excellent look.
I'd add Captain America to my list, but what should we mean with "original look"? Is the shield (which was different in 1940) included?

I like Thor's new costume. And it's not like a completely different costume from the one he had before. Anyway, the costume I really hated was the one he was using at some point during the 90s (Dr Strange also had an awful costume in the 90s too).

The "classic look" for me is what he wore when he came out of the ice: round sheild with red and white stripes, mask attached to costume and wrap around stripes. Since Kirby did the "upgrade" it's cool.

In the Heroic Age picture Marvel released, Thor seems to be missing his "square-mail". Looks like he borrowed a black t-shirt from Simon Cowell!
