Tarzan would be on the top of my list.

Hey, Bill, don't give up hope. Maybe it's just me and John is saying, like the classic Seinfeld episode, "That McCallum -- no soup for him!" (But, if John does relent and you get a Number 6 commission first, the Hulk with have nothing on the green from my envy.)

Assuming these are regular monthly gigs.

Was that you under there, JB?!?  Jesus, Rudy Nebres inked beautifully, but with a heavy hand.

My short answer to this question is, of course, EVERY FRIGGIN' DC AND M****L  CHARACTER!  NOW, WAKE UP, YOU BASTARDS!

Even though you've disparaged your ability to capture likenesses, I'd love to see you do an adaptation of -- wait for it -- Monty Python's Life of Brian

There was a British tabloid-sized book, published when the movie was first released, that featured additional scenes not in the movie -- and one such scene involved shepherds, and was penciled by none other than Neal Adams!  No idea who inked it.  To see the whole feckin' movie in one graphic novel would be great, and I think you could pull it off.

Thanks Matthew, but I'll let you take the lead on this.  ;)

Number 6 would've been part of a once-planned larger commission request (thank you stupid car repairs), but I've already thought of a suitable wacky substitute... It's just a matter of funds right now. ;)

JB did draw a tryout comic strip for "The Muppet Show," as I recall. It was inked by Terry Austin, too.

What are the most common reasons artists decline to not do
a commission? Copyright issues, lack of interest, etc, ?

••

For me --

• Copyright issues, which is why the Disney deal has me nervous

• Lack of interest in the characters or the suggested scene

• The person placing the request is a tool

As far as No. 6, it's the first one all the way!

I've been dreaming a John Byrne's Odyssey for years now. I'd love to see Homer's world drawn by JB.

He-Man, the Phantom, Flash Gordon for me, too, Ari!

Oh, and Mister No.

But, really, he could draw every character every month!
