Have you guys checked out the Ed Hannigan Benefit book put out by The Heroes Initiative and Marvel this week? Besides helping Ed, it's a great read! My only complaint is that I want more!!! I'd love an entire volume of every Marvel cover that Ed sketched with the story behind each. Gotta say that I was surprised that he sketched cover ideas for Mr. Byrne during his FF run!

Ed Hannigan, eh? That's a name I haven't heard about in years. The last time I saw it was in that stint of Spectacular Spider-Man during the 1980s in which Cloak and Dagger were introduced and the Black Cat really got wrapped up in all sorts of trouble with that gang war betwen Doc Ock and the Owl. It's a shame to find out that he's in bad shape. I wish I could do something for him myself, but prayers will have to do for now.

I knew he had done prelim sketches for some covers, but I never realized how many! He was almost an assistant to John Romita Sr. it seems.

That's unfortunate news. I'll try to get this book.

I'm looking forward to picking this up whenever I make it to the comic store. Probably next week.

Always loved Ed's covers. Great stuff. Back when a cover made you pick up a book and look at it and remember that issue.

Picked this up on Wednesday. Great book. I would love to see a nice hardcover book full of prelim cover designs by the likes of Severin, Hannigan, Romita, etc. Fascinating to see a cover come together.
Never realized that Hannigan did cover designs for Kirby and JB.
Everyone should pick this up because it's a good cause AND a great product.

I picked it up - and it's always interesting to see the mechanics behind things like cover designs. And the money goes to a good cause, so you can feel good about yourself too.

I hardly realized it at the time, but I was a big fan of Ed Hannigan's work. Very distinctive designwork, and yet the covers were completely story-appropriate. Of course, he's also the designer of Cloak and Dagger and the "Super Powers" era Brainiac, long a personal favorite of mine...

Good Lord, of course you can count me in! My only reservation came from the fact that, as the article states, "Ed drew hundreds of covers for Marvel and DC..." but the book is only 48 pages - they must have left out a lot of stuff. Good publicity for M****l, and just when they need some, after that underhanded Deadpool variant for DC covers deal they pulled. I always found Ed's cover designs to be consistently brilliant and innovative -- they never failed to catch my buyer's eye at the newsstand. I hope he's not suffering much - MS can be a particularly painful and vicious disease. Best of luck to him, and good on ya, Hero Initiative, for looking out for him
