That may be the worst looking costume I've ever seen Marvel publish.

While I favor the return of the circular uni-beam (yay!) and the move away from flanges, shoulderpads, and other ancillary "gadget-frippery," the wrap-around color-scheme on the limbs looks like broad peppermint-striping.

The lack of connection between the shoulder-pieces and "muscle-shirt" tunic is unimpressive, making Iron Man look like Tony Stark's gym-buddy rather than his bodyguard. The abundance of winky-blinky lights makes it seem as if the armor is "leaking" power rather than harnessing it through the central uni-beam on the chest. And toe-booties? Yeah, those are not working for me...

Hey!! I like Dazzler's roller-skate costume!! With the Tom Sutton/ Dave Cockrum-style eye make-up and disco-ball pendant... That was great!

It's her 80's headband phase I can do without...

Dazzler was supposed to look like a disco ball.  Iron Man isn't.

Looks like it will take a mountain of effort to draw and produce a molehill of effect.

I actually like the new look.  Ryan Meinerding is a very talented designer/artist.  It does have a Manga feel to it.  A tad too many spotlights I think.  This will obviously co-incide with the release of the new flick.....

Can see JB's point about rendering the inner red thigh portion....

To say that it is the worst armor design ever is exaggeration, IMO.   The armor is modern-looking and aerodynamic.  You're supposed to be able to believe that it could actually exist.  The red and gold armor is nice, but I always wondered about the gold section on his legs and arms.  What are those made off?  They are meant to look like metal right...so how does he manage to bend his arms and knees?  Or is it some kind of mesh material?

It really comes down to one's taste, in the end, but I cannot agree that this armor is the worst ever...

••

How does Superman fly? Where does all the Hulk's and the Thing's extra mass come from? How can Spider-Man stick to walls when he's wearing gloves and boots? How can Cyclops see? How can the Flash run faster than escape velocity without being thrown out into space?

And how can you read superhero comics without GETTING them?

Move on, move on. There is CLEARLY nothing for you to see here.

I was actually asking a genuine question.  I thought perhaps it had been explained in the past.  In all honesty, I am not familiar at all with the Iron Man stories that came before Kurt Busiek's and Sean Chen's run on the title in the ninties. I know that, with comic books, you have to suspend disbelief but I honestly thought that perhaps one of the writers had come up with some way to explain the gold section of IM's arms and legs.  Nowadays, it seems a lot of writers do exactly just that for other super heroes.
