"I don't like the bat design either because it does not look like a bat so much as some weird design similar to Dr. Strange's tunic symbol."
**
It looks just as much like a bat as the classic yellow oval, to my eyes. I believe it's been mentioned on this forum (and I personally have friends who have expressed the same thing) that some civilians see a mouthful of teeth or something with the yellow oval. So really, even what we're used to doesn't really look like a bat either.

In Miller's defense, not all criminals are bad shots, and not all bullets are going to magically miss their target. The yellow oval is meant to direct the heaviest fire toward it because it is the heaviest (or thickest) of Batman's armor. His entire costume was made of a Kevlar weave which explained the seams. Now, it's made of a carbon nano tube weave held together with Kevlar thread. This is due to his encounters with Bane and the like who have ripped his suit off depriving him of his tools.

Michael wrote: In Miller's defense, not all criminals are bad shots, and not all bullets are going to magically miss their target.** The only shots fired in a Miller comic that hit their targets are the ones Miller decides will do so. If the bad guys are practicing their marksmanship between issues it's because Miller said they were, not because they were "really" doing it! "Magically" missing their targets doesn't enter into it: the bad guys, like the good guys, are exactly as capable as the writer makes them. The villain doesn't have to be a lousy shot, as long as the Batman is fractionally better at avoiding getting hit. There's no need to turn him into an Iron Man junior grade.

Re: The Superman art by Shane Davis, I like how he's tearing up the street while keeping the "blue steel" facial pose. Hey, if you have to tear up the street, you might as well look good doing it right?

If that were true I know I sure as hell wouldn't have it so close to the unprotected bottom half of my face...

His big ass yellow belt makes for a more convincing target by Millars rational. Hope he is wearing his Kevlar cup.

Day Two - That new Adams Bat-Belt is like a damn Rorschach test. What on Earth is it? *** It has the shape of a bat. I was never a fan of the pouch utility belt. I like this version than what the new book is coming out with.
