I can only imagine what some of the REJECTED designs looked like! The new Batman design is NOT an improvement, which begs the question, "Why bother?" That Shane Davis 'Superman' is... not to my liking. That's the nicest way to express my opinon of it.

The Batman costume isn't too bad but what is with all the Liefeldian scowling?

The utility belt is worlds better than the pouches he's been wearing in the last few years. Beyond that, I don't see much in the way of an improvement.

I don't understand why Superman has to attack that innocent section of concrete. He's not Doomsday !

Some random new thoughts...
Re: the Batman design, the KISS rule works best. Who wants to draw all those extra wrinkles and seams and buttons, etc?
Re: the Superman image - lines are your friends. Is that colored pencil, pastel or a filter? Just wondering.

My thoughts on the new designs, for what they're worth: Batman: I like the belt, even though it has the potential to be even clunkier than the pouches he's carried for a while now. I don't mind the belt's color, but if the costume had dark trunks the belt would disappear. Don't care for the snap-on mask, and apparently Daniel Craig thinks it's pretty uncomfortable, too. At least they mostly stayed away from the armored look here. Superman: Is there any real need to put a yellow pinstripe around the emblem on the chest? And is it the shading, or is there a slightly darker color of blue in the oblique areas delineated by the unnecessary seams? Finally, I can't think of any reason Superman would have large air intakes at the top of his boots. Wouldn't those things rip off in flight? No wonder I'm buying back issues nowadays.

I like the utility belt and the cowl. Everything else -- the droopy cape, the seams and wrinkles and creases -- all add up to a very mundane whole.

Maybe Superman is mad with pain due to his disjointed right leg.

Yes, Batman really needs a new costume design! That will be a great improvement!

Flavio, that animated Batman you posted is so obviously a cartoon I can't believe it! I can't even see the zippers, and he doesn't have pupils or irises. Plus, there aren't any folds or creases in his suit, so it's skin tight - but it doesn't show a lot of muscles. They should have gone with rubber molding. That way, they could add phony nipples and make it so he can't move his head at all - which would be way more realistic than a cartoon Batman. I know if I was a real-life crimefighter I'd want to limit the mobility of my head, neck, and upper torso as much as possible.
And what's up with the leaping into action thing? Batman doesn't act - he poses in cool poses. That's how he could defeat Galactus - with cooler poses.

Look more closely at that "Earth One" Superman, fellas... There areseams going down along his rib cage and stomach, and his inside thighs. --
Wow, I believe you're right. I hadn't noticed. I stand corrected as to "no make-over" then. Seams?! Thumbs hereby firmly posed down at such silliness.
