Wasn't too wild about that one myself. The later story that established her faking Stephanie's death instead of being responsible for Stephanie truly dying, as I understand it, was a direct result of reader reaction to the earlier story, taking care of both elements that readers disliked in one swoop.

Does Bruce know about it though or does he still think Stephanie is dead and Leslie is the reason?

Bruce has a bad case of death right now, himself.

Yeah, I get that even though I don't read the books. Kinda obvious that since I didn't know the story about Stephanie's death being faked, I wouldn't know where in the timeline it happened. It's a legit question.

I have a hard time seeing how that getup would intimidate anyone
***
Has Batgirl's costume ever been about intimidation as Batman's has? I mean, a 6'2" muscular man dressed in a bat costume can be intimidating, but a girl who's probably 5'7"ish and slight of build just isn't going to have an intimidating first impression, regardless of what she's wearing.

I was just thinking that having a variety of costumes to go with various iterations of a character kind of gives away the idea of a "timeless" or "unkillable" character, which would frighten criminals even LESS. For example, that Batgirl costume (not to mention a Batgirl who obviously has blond hair, unlike Batgirl's previous red hair) says that this COULD be (and most likely is) a new Batgirl.
So what happened to the old Batgirl?
Some criminals probably know . . . those that don't can now conjecture.
Robin putting on the Batman costume, or even Alfred putting on the Batman costume and allowing himself to be seen only from a distance (one of my favorite bits in the old Batman TV series) helps maintain the myth that Batman is ALWAYS there, that NOTHING can stop him or slow him down.
THAT helps perpetuate the kind of fear that is the essence of the Phantom's "Ghost Who Walks" mythos.
Then, while thinking all this, I scrolled back up to check out the new Batgirl costume and realized that with the purple it gives me something of a "Phantom" vibe.

Apparently Batman suspected her death was a fake, so he was not surprised to see her alive and well.

Ah, that crappy story about Leslie, a long time friend and confidant of Bruce Wayne turned murderer and someone he couldn't trust. Hated that story. Didn't know she faked Stephanie's death. ___________________________ Leslie? As in Dr. Leslie Thompkins ? I can't believe it. They turned her into a villain?

Here's the quickie version of what happened, Arc: During the gang war storyline, Spoiler was brutally beaten by Black Mask, and Leslie was treating her (along with other bystander victims of the gang war) at her clinic. Steph was reported to have died from her injuries. Later, it was revealed that her death was due to Leslie withholding treatment, to send a message to other kids who might follow in her vigilante footsteps (and also to possibly get Bruce to rethink using young sidekicks). Bruce found out and pulled the whole, "Get out of my city!" bit. Later on, in the Robin book, someone in a Spoiler costume was following Tim around. When unmasked, she was revealed to be Steph, and it was further revealed that Leslie had faked Steph's death. Steph went with Leslie to work in Africa, but ultimately returned to Gotham.

I'm glad they fixed that War Crimes story, which I absolutely loathed, but even the fix was a bit awkward. One of Bruce's oldest friends and confidantes supposedly lets a girl die to teach him a lesson, said girl returns from the dead, and his response was basically, "Yeah... I always thought that was kind of fishy."
