My first issue of X-Men.  I'd never seen any of these characters before.  What a cornucopia!

Some more "firsts".  I love this thread.  It has brought back a lot of fond memories of my youth.  The thrill and wonder of meeting these characters has stuck with me all these years.  I often wonder if (or how) today's comics illicit those kinds of feelings in today's youth.

Captain America 229 - Bob McLeod

Hulk 224 - Comics Code - Hulk - Green Mutant - Monster - Battle - Ernie Chan

Daredevil 157 - Man Without Fear - Captain America - Avengers - Shadow - Shield - Gene Colan

I think these covers show how compelling comicbook covers USED TO BE. The "pin-up" covers of today in my opinion don't even make you want to look inside.

Looking through what everyone has posted has made me want to go look for issues I missed or never had.

Some great, great stuff

Reprints were easier to find in my neighborhood for some reason - anyhoo I couldn't get a better intro to the FF than the classic Doom stealing the surfer's powers by Lee and Kirby...

Also my first Spiderman and Batman

My first Legion of Super-Heroes (although the insides feature the 50's/60's versions, not the '70s versions on the cover!):

DC Treasury Edition 1974 49

My first Warlord:

Warlord 1976 1st Series DC 3

And my first Bizarro Superman!

Adventures of Superman 1939 306

I remember my teacher confiscating that issue of Superman from me, she never gave it back.

Has that Captain America #229 been included in a trade paperback?
