It freaks me out that reading the New Gods saga how "odd" at the time it came out the concept of the Mother Box and where such an idea came from but with practically everyone on the planet now having a cellphone and to top it off cellphones that serve as GPS and Internet Browsers, cameras, multimedia devices, etc. ad-infinitum that we now are approaching in reality the "Mother Box" for all people.I don't know where Kirby got the idea from but it was really visionary on his part.

I can still post to the Forum from my iPhone, tho I rarely do.Not a good analog to the Mother Box, tho. If anything, the Mother Box is the exact opposite of an iPhone, or a cellphone, or a computer of any kind. The Mother Box is an intensely personal device, each on tailored specifically to its user. It's more like a portable soul than a cellphone.

Plus, four friends and I chanted "Taaru" into my I-phone until we were blue in the face, but f*ck-all happened... I'm kidding; I don't even OWN one of the bloody things... Edited to correct a f*cking typo!

They're only bloody if you use them to hit people. And then you have to be careful how you hold them, or then tend to glance off.Or, so I'm told. . .

I've been looking for a Ping! Ping! Ping! ringtone for my iPhone. What real world sound would those pings be similar to? I always heard them in my head as having a metallic sound.
I am unable to post to the Forum from my iPhone as well.

The Mother Box always seemed like a computer to me... They ask it questions, it seems to have all the answers.. It can do things that the character cannot on their own. It seems tapped into an information store, etc... etc...

But iPhones aren't sentient... at least I don't think mine is.

Even though the iPhone's a long way from being motherbox, I get where you're getting at, but I don't think it's that far out to come up with the iPhone's concept even 200 years ago. The real drawbacks with technology are data capacity and processing speed without over heating. We could've had those 200 years ago had we the electronical know how. Heck, the iPhone's a glorified PDA sold as an entertainment center, they didn't come up with that out of the blue when they launched it.
