I wonder what will happen to the Marvel themes at Universal's Islands of Adventure?

I doubt that this will be the end for Joey Q!

To be honest, I don't like this news. It seems almost like Disney wanted Marvel to compete with WB owning DC. I am no legal braintrust, but I believe that Disney would keep Marvel as a somewhat separate entity, Marvel Productions and the Marvel name will remain its own brand, just under the Disney parent company. I'd imagine that the "Disney" name isn't something that would increase sales of Marvel Comics. Just my first impressions.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Marvel Island at Universal in Orlando,i can`t see Disney letting a competitor hold on to the Spider-Man and Hulk rides,or letting the costumed actors run around as Marvel heroes.

As to the comics,i keep an open mind, lets face it,they can`t get any worse, can they?

Maybe, there will be a sweeping change that will see conditions that J.B. could be persuaded to work for them again? (O.K. i`m hoping!)

Well, I guess Jessica Rabbit wearing a Dark Phoenix costume is now a legal possibility...

I'm kind of surprised at the Chicken Little attitude here only hours after the announcement.

Disney will do what they do.... whatever they THINK will be best for the studio at the time. Trust me, I was one of the Many artists let go as the guttted their backbone.... animation... they've outsourced a LOT of their TV work, jsut like every other studio... and outsourced chunks of "Princess and the Frog," (granted pretty much everyone who worked on it in Florida was a former employee) but they kept control and the understand the value of their properties.

Will Marvel remain in the form it's in now? Maybe not.... but will they cease altogether? I doubt it.... After all, how many IN HOUSE writers and artists are there? Disney will find a way to publish what they need to.... downsizing the staff.... outsourcing the books.... that may all happen.... hell, we may well see Marvel characters published by..... IDW or Dark Horse.... whatever deal Disney may end up working out will happen.

I expect the you'll see and eventual shift in the product, the creators, etc.... It may be that "Marvel" puts in a "scale" price for books.... doesn't matter woh you are, THIS is what we pay....

I'm interested to see how it falls out.... personally, I don't see how it could get any worse than what Marvel has been doing....

Be funny if Disney re-hires Jim Shooter as Marvel EiC.

Considering how poorly Disney treated the Muppets when they made that purchase, I am approaching this news with extremely cautious optimism.

Could be good: Return to something closer to classic Marvel.

Could be bad: If really they close the publishing. But we can hope that they will see better for characters born in comics that the comics continue to exist. That's not the same as the Disney characters who were born on the screen first and who were adapted later.
