I think that if Disney license Marvel Characters for a Comic BookPublish house (like Panini) it might not be a bad idea. Maybe the "allages" concept might come back to the stands...

Things change in business all the time, but I thought Marvel owned Panini.

Here's some more food for thought.Disney canceled the Disney Adventure magazine due to low sales, which was rumored to be selling a million copy's a month (which is more then the entire Marvel comics line combined). It should also be noted that the Disney Adventure magazine started including comics in the last 2 years of the magazines existence. Marvel might start subcontracting their comics and characters out to other publishers, like they did with Event Comics for the Marvel Knights line of books and the recent Avengers/Invaders and The Torch mini series with Dynamite Entertainment. IIRC, this kind of deal leaves the hireing and payment of creators to the subcontracting company's.

Not for over 10 years now. With a privileged contract licensing Marvel Comics everywhere outside the US, Panini pretty much owns Marvel. They certainly make MUCH MORE money with Marvel Comics than Marvel itself.
I'm sure that will be one of the things changing after Disney is aware of the details...

Yeah Pedro, last I knew, Marvel was owned by ToyBiz, and in turn owned Panini, Fleer, and Heroes World. This was all back in the 90's when Perelman was looking to make Marvel's fortune with stickers, trading cards and pogs! Of course he pretty much rode that horse into bankruptcy. But, I hadn't heard of any of the other companies being sold off.

Panini was the first to be sold at the time, since it was the sole profitable company. I remember quite well when I saw that piece of news on the internet.
Panini's british site has a few more details. Apparently it belonged to Marvel only from 1994 to 1999.

I think Panini is a "runner up" to take over Marvel's publishing business, it seems to me that it would be a natural transition for them.
Would be interesting to see this development.

My son starts his internship at Marvel on Wednesday, we drove him to NY this weekend, here he is in front of the Marvel offices building.
No sign yet of any mouse ears :0)
