" I would say that the manner in which sex is used in comics is very adolescent & immature-- which makes the 30+ crowd that enjoys it pretty maladjusted.

True. I was just speaking to the general nature of Steve's post in that he said graphic violence and sexual content in and of itself is a sign of immaturity in a 30+ year old if they like it. Can't agree with that.

Doesn't seem to me like much has changed.

Twenty or more years ago, Craig Russell commented that the stuff Marvel was putting out as "Mature" should have been labeled "Sophomoric". Doesn't seem to me like much has changed ******************************** It hasn't. Which is why there are zero Marvels on my pull list.

I guess we can only wait and see what happens. At this point though, if Disney actually shut down Marvel's publishing arm, I don't think I'd miss it. The company is just too far-removed from the comics that I used to love. And I think it could happen because Disney might be far more interested in having the characters for movies, animations and theme rides than the fanboy-generated drivel we've been spoon fed the last few years.

This is what I was pointing to Matt. Let me clarify. When I was a teenage boy, I would read a comic just because it featured some gore or violence or sexual titillation. I would assume that you as a well-adjusted adult, like me, enjoy movies which sometimes contain graphic violence or sexual content, but hopefully you aren't going to see those movies just for the violence and the sex, which is what is immature.
And by the way, the rating system isn't really a determinant of who you're aiming your movies at. I was watching Aliens and Terminator on video well before I hit 17, and Grand Theft Auto, despite being rated M for Mature, has sold a whole lot of its millions of copies to teen and pre-teen boys. Hence the big deal over the sex scene in San Andreas. Kids have things marketed to them, rating aside, constantly.

I'm hoping for a Marvel Restoration.
The fanboys seem agitated on other boards about the deal - they sense it's coming too.
Interesting data point: the Financial Times editorial claims Disney overpaid.

I’m thinking nothing big’s gonna change with this deal (I could be 100% wrong, who knows). The one thing I can foresee happening pretty easily would be Marvel's offices moving to Florida or California, and that would make me kinda sad.
Marvel, in and out of the comics, is just so tied to NYC. I think something would be lost if/when they move the offices, to me anyway.
