Morlun (an ancient predator of...spider-men, ugh), etc.

------------------------------------------------

Because JMS saw all the untapped potential of post-Zero Hour Hawkman.

Untapped, of course, because it flopped with a resounding thud and was quickly ignored/retconned away.

I hadn't compared the two stories until now, but they're nearly identical.  And becoming a cosmic immortal Hawk avatar literally obliterated the Thanagarian Hawkman (and Shayera for that matter) from the DC Unvierse.

Well, he's from Hollywood. Where, as they say, nobody wants to be first, but everybody wants to be second.

Marvel Team-up really seemed to be the home of the space and time-shifting Spider-man in the 1970's, didn't it? There's an early time-hopping adventure with the Avengers...and several issues where he time-hops into Marvel's sf books of the time (Deathlok, Killraven)...and a time-spanning adventure with Doc Savage...and that team-up with Man-Thing against D'Spayre...and so on, and so forth.

As to Congorilla in the JLA...but now they match up better when they fight the Secret Society with Grodd! Or the Brotherhood of Evil with Monsieur Mallah! I sorta wish Congo Bill/Congorilla had assumed the Bwana Beast/Freedom Beast mask as well after Robinson killed FB/BB off in Cry for Justice#1 so we could have  an unwieldy new name like Bwana Bill, Freedom Bill, Bwanacongorilla, or Freedom Congorilla.

Cheers, Bwana Jongorilla

Well the whole Alicia being a Skrull idea resembles a legion of Super Heroes story where Shrinking violet suddnely turned out to be a Durlan who replaced the real one who was captured by Imskian terrorists.

Apparently it was to get Shrinking Violet out of the Colossal Boy marriage and make her more "hard core" and gritty while creating a female version of Chamelon Boy. Of course the durlan was an aspiring actress who had no idea the original was in any danger and in fact thought she was doing the real Shrinking Violet a favor by taking her place while she went on secret missions.

Yes, MIGHTY AVENGERS is the one where Hank Pym told Reed Richards "It's on, bitch." Just like he always used to when we were kids...

Not so long ago Bill Jemas wanted Marvel to be more like Maxim. And Maxim probably really digs Marvel's demographic. They should merge and call themselves Marxim.

Marvxim would be a bit easier to pronounce...

(And, Marvexim sounds like something a psychiatrist would prescribe to a depressed patient.)

"Marvexim: take every month for a minimum of six months, or wait six months and take them all at once, or take every month for three months in a row, then stop for what seems like seven months, and then take one every three to five months.  If you can remember why you're taking them by the time you get to the last pill, please renew."

I thought there was no nudity in Maxim? Which is why I've always wondered why anyone that was over 18 ever bothered buying it, since instead of paying to be teased, they could just go to one rack higher at the newsstand and pick up Playboy or whatever and pay the same price for actual nudity.

Maxim is what I call Married Porn.  Titillating but acceptable.
