Hmmm.  Marvel parodied Superman more than once (and John, at least 2 times by yourself):

Can you please clarify your statement?  Thanks.

Yeah, but JB (and Severin?) altrered his appearance enough that it's not an exact depiction of Superman, so it's clearly parody. On the Inferior Five cover, they may have taken off Mr. Fantastic's trademark insignia, but Spider-Man's on the cover completly unaltered.

I'm also pretty sure that lawsuits would start flying if Marvel started a regular Stuporman comic book. Or if, in an alternate universe, DC had published Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-ham.

Cheers, Jon

I've always thought that both publishers could do a "monthly crossover" comic, one from Marvel and one from DC. Then they could have 24 issues a year of inter-company crossovers without having to do knockoffs of each others' characters.

Those Batman and Chameleon Boy panels are quite funny, though. Can't understand why the writer felt the need to talk about Spider-Man...

According to Steve Gerber, DC actually did complain to Marvel about Wundarr and threatened to sue, which is why the color scheme of his costume was altered in his next appearance.

Legend has it that Wonder Man died because DC's lawyers rattled their sabers. Then after Marvel had introduced Power Man, DC did Power Girl, and Wonder Man came back to life!

Yep. More about that here:

Fascinating story.

Edit: Hmmm... it keeps adding a space between the two os of comic-book. Weird.

Taking something that used to be special and making it ordinary!

Going only slightly off-topic, Roy Thomas ended up doing what amounted to homages to DC's own heroes in Young All-Stars after the Crisis removed several of the Golden Age heroes from All-Star Squadron continuity. There was "Iron" Munro for Superman (later revealed to be the super-powered son of the super-powered protagonist of Philip Wylie's Gladiator!), the Golden-Age Fury for Wonder Woman, Flying Fox for Batman, an aquatic Asian woman for Aquaman (if memory serves me correctly) and a power-heightened Dan the Dyna-mite for, well, Dan the Dyna-mite, I guess.

Cheers, Jon
