There was an episode of BATMAN BEYOND called "Heroes" which was a homage to the Fantastic Four. There were only three characters, however: Magma, 2-D Man and Freon.

(If only Bruce Timm could take on the FF themselves!)

There is that absurd character "The Sentry" that seems like a subpar substitute for Superman.

Was Ditko trying to capture some of the early quirkiness of Spider-Man when he created The Creeper?  Different powers and all, I know, but some of the approach at the onset may have been similar.

How about X-Men vs Doom Patrol?

Any similarities between X-Men and Doom Patrol are coincidence, not homage.

There was that Hank Krenshaw (?) group.  The guy who ultimately became the Cyborg Superman.  They were a blatant riff on the FF.

Alongside the Champions of Angor were the villains that
were Dr. Doom, Dr. Octopus, Sabertooth and Dormamu clones

Clockwise starting with bottom left

The Extremists
Lord Havok = Doctor Doom.
Tracer = Sabretooth
Doctor Diehard = Magneto
Gorgon = Doctor Octopus.

The Dormamu Character isn't in this pic. They even had a
DC Countdown book.

The Maximums are a DC Comics team of super heroes parodying
Marvel Comics's Ultimates and New Avengers, including the lower-case
speech bubbles associated with the Ultimate Universe and the Avengers'
battlecry "Avengers Assemble!" to their "Maximums March!" Characters
parodied include Captain America, The Hulk, Wasp, Giant Man, Iron Man,
Thor and the ghost of Hawkeye.

They were introduced in Superman/Batman #20 as inhabitants of an
alternate world. It was eventually revealed they had been created by the
Joker and Mr. Mxyzptlk.

Another good one from the DeMatteis/Giffen Justice League International days was General Glory.

General Glory was a World War II super-soldier who had gone missing for several decades before reemerging in modern times. He was a superb hand-to-hand fighter with a penchant for inspirational, patriotic (and, as his teammates often joked) long-winded speeches. Oh, and he mourned the passing of his old sidekick, Ernie the Battlin' Boy. Sound familiar?

Justice League Unlimited also has Amazo hang out with Dr. Fate et al. to fill the Silver Surfer spot.

The Lord Havok and the Extremists 'Countdown' miniseries parodied Marvel's Civil War. Or at least the first two issues did -- I stopped buying at that point.

Bill Willingham and Matt Sturges just gave the Mr. America of WWII a short-lived teen-aged sidekick who's either an homage or parody of "Bucky" Barnes. That's in their first issue of JSA.

Cheers, Jon

We're either of the Crusaders teams evil?  I thought they were both good groups that ended up battling the good guys anyway.
