JB: Mind you, one of those is Nathan Greno's 33 character piece, which pretty much covers the whole concept of "crossovers" from now until the end of time!

-----------

Almost 34 characters(!) -- JB declines self portraits. I have wanted this "crossover idea" for a looong time -- it was my first commission request (and decline) back in 2002*. I've finally figured out how to do my "crossover idea" without the self portrait -- and JB accepted it! Happy Day!

-----------

JB: 18x24. I may need the microscope for this one!

------------

You'll put those Superfine PITT pens to good use!

*For the record: Back in 2002 I ended up with a 20x30 Fantastic Four vs. Super-Skrull , I can't complain!

Jason Mark Hickok: Maybe that and one big check from Nathan!  33 characters in one piece will be pretty impressive to say the least.

-----------------------

Worth every penny! I have read JB's comics since I was a kid & I always credit those comics for inspiring me to become a visual storyteller (I've been working at Disney Animation for 13 years...directing their 50th animated feature due out next year) -- this commission will be a dream come true for me.

I wish JB would have been able to do that SHAZAM series! I love the way he draws the Fawcett characters.

I've been working at Disney Animation for 13 years...

••

Actually, Nathan means his Mom worked there when she was pregnant…

We should have a guess the 33 characters in Nathan's commission thread.  See who gets the closest.  Also, congratulations on your next feature.  I know I will be all over it.  You have a lot to live up to after your last feature so make it great!

Back to this piece.  The more I look at it the more I love it.  The Austin-esque background inks, the inspired character selections, each character pose tie it together perfectly.  JB is drawing on all cylinders right now and seems to keep getting better and better.

Hmm...  I think I've just guessed what the original commission idea was and even have a notion of how you got around the "self portrait."  Hope JB gets to it soon; I want to see if I'm right! :-)

JB, do you rotate the page when you draw characters upside down? or do you keep the page right side up?

Carmen - that Mary just doesn't exist. Close your eyes and
wish her away like I did.

My version of the SHAZAM universe is the one JB draws. I
just can't seem to find any comics that contain that
version.
