JB great cover..Did Dave think that little of Logan that he hardly ever put him on the covers? Today it would be Logan on the cover going toe to toe with Juggernaut while the rest of the X-Men cowered around

==================================================

Heck, today we would be lucky to get any kind of cover like that.  It is usually just a pin up shot that has nothing to do with the actual story!

Brian, JB did draw Juggie and Black Tom albeit briefly at the end of #122 if memory serves me correctly.

**************

I meant in a full-blown story. Not a panel here and there. He also drew him a couple of times in a panel or two in 138.

I always thought it would be fantastic if Mr. Byrne had done a duo story with Colossus and Wolverine. With all due respect to those who have drawn Colossus, he's just something else when Mr. Byrne put those lines to the paper.

Awesome commission.

Colossus vs Juggernaut is one of those matchups that's only happened a few times, but they're always memorable. Maybe it's because Peter is probably the only X-Man who can go toe-to-toe with Cain and not be smashed into paste in two seconds.

Excellent recreation of XM102, JB!

Anytime you have JB's version of Nightcrawler you have a winner. Great reimaging.

WOW!

Great rendering and congrats to the commissioner!

I really love JB's rendition of Juggernaut and Nightcrawler.  I really like Colossus' body detail.

One thing I noticed about Dave Cockrum's cover and Dave's original art.  The chandalier is different in the final product.  Who would have been responsible for erasing Dave's original chandalier and drawing a new one?

JB drew Juggernaut in two other occasions, even though it turned out it wasn't really the Juggernaut: in his first Hulk story and in the X-Men back-up that debuted the Hidden Years series.

Jason, if I recall correctly, Nightcrawler was Dave Cockrum's favorite X-Man; Wolverine was his least favorite.  I think I remember reading that he actively campaigned Marvel editorial to remove the character from the book (remember those days when there was only one "X-Men" comic?).

It wasn't until some Canadian artist came on the book and declared solidarity with Logan that he started his rise to prominence.  Wonder what happened to that artist (rumor had it that he used to chop the wood for his own pencils...all together, now: He's a lumberjack and he's okay; he sleeps all night and he works all day!)?

By the way, it's ironic that of the two artists, Dave is more celebrated for his cheesecake, but it's JB's Storm who -- Good God, Girl Got Gams(I know, I know...lines on paper...).

Michael - yes all that stuff is known.  I was talking about the fact that today's covers are more pin-up shots with nothing to do with the interior story.  Not specifically talking about any certain character just expanding on the point Tshombe was making the post above.
