Nothing wrong with the Frank Hulk to my eyes either.

That's a great Green Goblin splash page.

You sure about that? I would have thought that JRjr has earned that title by now.

That's the Hellcow of course!

(from the first Howard the Duck story I ever read in Giant-Size Man-Thing #5, August, 1975)

Sal drew at least 12 issues of the following for Marvel -

The Avengers
Captain America
The Defenders
Eternals
Incredible Hulk
Marvel Team-Up
Marvel Two-in-One
The New Mutants
Nova
ROM
Spectacular Spider-Man
Sub-Mariner
Thor

He also inked 12 or more issues of -

Conan the Barbarian
Incredible Hulk
Spectacular Spider-Man
Spider-Girl
Thor

With one of the longest careers in the history of Marvel, I would be suprised if he hasn't drawn more pages than any other artist in their history.

That Gary Frank is form his most recent run, right? I liked his first stint on the title, following Keown. It was a different Hulk than the one Sal used to draw, but good looking, imo.
I liked Sal with Tallaoc on Hulk, Akin & Garvey on Rom, Grainger on whatever.

His name tends to get forgotten in discussions of great Spider-Man artists, since he never worked on Amazing Spider-Man. But I'd personally put him up there with the all-time best.

*****

Only Spidey artist I would put over him are Ditko and Romita. I absolutely loved his work on Spectacular Spider-Man.

And you are right! JR Jr.'s work on Amazing Spider-Man in the past year has put him over the top as the most prolific Spider-Man artist ever (according to info from Samruby.com).

By my quick, unofficial count from that site, JR Jr. has drawn 162 comics of various Spider-Man titles. Sal is now in second place with 157. I think Mark Bagley comes in third.

Still, Sal Buscema has drawn a heckuva lot of comics in his day!

My kids and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Buscema a few years back.  He did two HUGE sketches in fifteen minutes (on an easel with one broken leg, no less)!  My son now has flipchart sized Captain America and Spider-Girl pix in his room.  I'll see if I can upload pictures.
